Welcome to the Society of Colonial Wars in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We are an organization of men whose ancestors served in the military or held governmental positions in colonial America (1607-1775). Our mission is to further interest in, and the study of, America’s colonial history. Among other things, we install commemorative plaques at Kentucky sites connected with our colonial history; give financial support to museums, libraries, and historic homes; sponsor the participation of Kentucky teachers in the annual Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute of Colonial; and bring lecturers from the United States and abroad to Kentucky to speak on colonial history and related topics.
The Society of Colonial Wars in the Commonwealth of Kentucky is a private membership organization. We welcome the interest of the public, and we are happy to tell our story, but only members and their invited guests may attend or participate in the society’s activities. Ever since our founding in 1895, membership has been by invitation only. The society is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
